The Atlas of Living Australia is an open digital inrastructure that aggregates Australian biodiversity data from multiple sources, making it accessible and reusable.

The ALA Lens site presents outcomes from "Re-designing digital biodiversity experience" (2022-2024) a research project funded by the ALA, undertaken with Prof Adrian Mackenzie (ANU School of Sociology).

Through a combination of exploratory interface design and visualisation and qualitative social research, this research project investigated alternative approaches to showing and interacting with biodiversity data.

ALA Lens presents redesigned digital experiences that aim to better engage a diverse audiences, interfaces that are approachable, enjoyable and inviting, and that better reflect users’ values and interests in relation to biodiversity.
