Whitelaw, Mitchell, ‘Art Against Information: Case Studies in Data Practice’, Fibreculture, 11 (2008) http://eleven.fibreculturejournal.org/fcj-067-art-against-information-case-studies-in-data-practice/
This paper develops a critical analysis of data art, through a distinction between data and information. It argues that artists often work against information - the well-formed message - and instead direct us towards the more abstract and open-ended potential of data. It features the work of artists including Lisa Jevbratt, Brad Borevitz, Alex Dragulescu and Jason Salavon.
