This chapter reflects on the Climate Coaster project, arguing that data physicalisation — making data objects — can make a useful contribution to the challenge of engaging audiences with climate change data. As well as documenting the design process, we focus on how tangible visualisations make use of metaphor (a set of cultural and physical affordances) as well as materiality.
